Ever been in the situation when you're asking yourself, “why aren't people engaging?”
I've been there more times than I care to admit.
Here are three questions to ask:
1. Is it obvious to them what you want them to engage with?
Have you said precisely what you want them to do? Or have you insinuated it? And if you have said it, have you said it enough?
2. Is it possible for them to do what you want them to engage with?
Have you made it easy or joyful — or at the least, not agonisingly impossible — for people to do the thing you want them to engage with? (Sign-up forms, I'm looking at you!)
3. Is it going to make their life better?
I don't mean, “have you told them it'll make their life better?” I mean quite literally: will it actually make their life better if they engage, compared to the cost of engaging?
Three basic questions. But often not done.
