The 6 parts of an engagement operating system

Ever struggle with just what on earth you’re meant to put into place to ensure things remain engaging?

Sure, you can write a good email occasionally, or be charismatic on stage, or lead a great meeting. But what are the systems that keep things going?

In order to actually put engagement into practice – to “operationalise it” – you need these 6 systems:

1. Connecting Messages

Whether it’s a small email, or your whole value proposition, you need a system that ensures you always develop clear messages that instantly connect with people.

2. Coordinated Channels

A connecting message is no use unless it is received by the intended recipient. You need a system for coordinating your channels so that the right message gets to the right person at the right time.

3. Stimulating Meetings

When people respond to your message, there is a meeting of people. Whatever form that takes, it should be stimulating. You want a system to ensure these meetings are stimulating.

4. Social Interaction

This is the most neglected part of engagement strategies. No one engages alone. We are a social species. You need a system for how you design positive social interaction, whether that’s between colleagues, customers, or community members.

5. Profitable Platform

How do you make people’s lives better? You need a system to ensure that the value they experience is communicated, delivered, and maintained.

6. Purposeful Mission

Finally, there is always a portion of people who want to engage at a deeper level. You need to give these people a part in your mission, else you’ll always be limited.

Take a moment and rate yourself: can you describe the systems that ensure these six things get done?
